Workaway Hawaii connects guests with awesome housing options and includes a free private room for you to stay. This program is mostly used by local guests from Hawaii, or mainland students interested in traveling to Hawaii, to create a new path in life and learn about farming/plants while enjoying the Hawaiian life.

What is Workaway Hawai'i?
Workaway Hawaii is a free program that allows people to live in Hawaii for a period of time, and includes a room to stay/sleep/relax, but Workaway Hawaii is also a unique cultural and educational program allowing for learning about farming, plants, business, and different cultures. Likewise for Hawaii residents, guests would be offered a Host farm either on their island or by a quick flight over to another island such as Maui or Hawaii Island. Participants - known as "workaway guests" - learn about the organic farming and sustainability, and receive free room and board, plus delicious healthy food, during their visit. Workaway Hawaii's Hosts offer guests a variety of educational opportunities, including growing fruits and vegetables, beekeeping, animal care, renewable energy and construction projects such as solar power, and making preparing products such as chocolate, beer/wine, dried fruits and macadamia nuts.
Guests have the option of other tasks to assist with instead of helping out on farms, depending on skills or interests of guests, such as writing blogs for farms, making videos or creating content to promote farming programs, and running errands to support rehabilitating farms. Even helping to deliver food to hungry families - food from farms that might otherwise go to waste, while many households across our state struggle to feed their loved ones. There are so many ways you can contribute even if you have no experience!
Awesome vibes! Workaway Hawaii is managed by volunteer students so student guests often build a good relationship with our team members quickly and have fun interacting throughout their time in the program!
Who can join?
This program is open to anyone 16 years of age or older, regardless of experience or skills. Unlike other websites, there is no membership fees – it is completely FREE to join! We encourage all types of guests to participate and work together with their Host to strengthen sustainable agriculture in Hawaii while you enjoy Hawaii’s beautiful scenery! Workaway Hawaii is such a great way to meet new, like-minded people with similar interests! Many of our guests have made close friends, new connections and lasting relationships.
How long can I stay?
Length of your visit is optional. Guests can visit a Hawaii Host for just a few days or as long as many months. It is possible that your Host may even sponsor you for a job or extended stay. Sponsored guests could potentially stay up to one year, if the Host desires to extend the guest’s stay at the request of the guest. Guests looking to move out of their current home and start a new path in life might find this program extra helpful, as long-term options are often available.

About Workaway Hawai'i
Local Guests
Hawaii residents have the ability to spend periods of time on another island then returning back home as frequently as weekly, or stay on a farm for periods or weeks or months, up to one year or even longer based on the Host's availability. Hawaii residents can stay at host farms at no cost and will have a room to stay and provided with meals. Your part-time efforts on Workaway Hawaii farms will support our goals of making Hawaii's food production sustainable and create a better future for our community. Your help directly impacts our local residents because Hawaii's farms need our help more than ever, and in most cases your help jump starts new farms throughout our state!!
Mainland Guests
Aloha and welcome to Hawaii! Workaway Hawaii invites guests from mainland America that wish to join our program and stay in Hawaii for free while helping out at beautiful Hawaiian farms. Workaway Hawaii is dedicated to helping the State of Hawaii reach it's food production goals of producing at least 50% of our food supply from local farms. Currently, 80% of all Hawaii food is imported. Visit Hawaii for a week or two, several months, or maybe much longer depending on the availability of our Host farms. Just pay for your travel expenses then you'll be all set for room accommodations, meals and toiletries when you arrive.
International Guests
International guest are more than welcome! Come to Hawaii and enjoy paradise while staying for free at amazing Hawaiian farms! Many guests come from all parts of the world such as Japan, Korea and across Europe. We can match you with a Host farm that has experience with your culture and language so you will feel very comfortable during your stay!
